The Smith Brine House is designed and furnished by the legendary John Stefanidis, the Egyptian-born, London-based AD100 interior designer, celebrated creator and master of “The Patmos Style”.

The private villa commands an entire city block on the medieval hilltop of Chora directly below The Monastery of St John the Theologian. It offers guests magnificent views looking south over the roofs of Chora to Profítas Elias and the Icarian archipelago from three spectacular viewing terraces with the Islands of Icaria, Mykonos, Naxos, Amorgos, ad Astypalea on the horizon.

The town of Chóra on the Island of Pátmos is one of the few settlements in Greece that have evolved uninterruptedly since the 12th century. There are few other places in the world where religious ceremonies that date back to the early Christian times are still being practised unchanged. The Apocalyptic Cave, the grotto which marks the spot where St John of Patmos received his vision recorded in the Book of Revelations, is a pilgrims walk down a Byzantine path from Chora.

To request your reservation, message Mr. Kalogiannis with the form below. Enter your name, email, and your requested arrival and departure dates. The pop-up calendar will inform you if your requested dates are available.

Upon receipt of your request by email Mr. Kalogiannis will confirm your reservation as pending and send you the rental lease and bank wire or ACH instructions. In most cases, the minimum stay is 15 days.

Pricing Details

The price for the Villa is €12,600 per week during high season, July–Sept 15 and €8,400 off season plus applicable Greek Tourist Tax. Your reservation request will be held as pending until the executed lease agreement and payment are received. Two Kitchens

The creation of a new modern kitchen on the upper level of the house was one of the key features of the recent Smith Brine House renovation. It comes fully equipped with a full range of modern appliances to suit the most demanding modern chef with convenient access to the adjacent private open air seating area. The winter kitchen below, on the second terrace level, is set up to privately serve familly and guests staying in the interior family rooms.

Five Ensuite Bedrooms - 7 Bathrooms

Each of the five ensuite bedrooms offer different kinds of charms, nooks and crannies, all furnished with John Stephanides' proprietary furniture designs, upholstery and fabrics.

Primary bedroom one (queen size, canopied bed) - ensuite bedroom with private terrace and spectacular views.

Four Ways To Get To Patmos

One: By plane and ferry:
Ferry to Patmos on the Bluestar Ferry (between 7 and 12 hours) departing from the port of Piraeus in Athens. The ferry accommodates your car.

Two: By Plane and hydrofoil or catamaran
Fly from Athens, Europe or Australia/New Zealand to Kos, Leros or Samos and take a catamaran from these closer islands. The catamaran from Kos to Patmos is 2.5 hours whilst from Leros, it takes 1 hour 10 minutes. Please note, the catamarans do not accommodate cars.

In summer direct flights operate from London to Kos. From there, you can take a taxi to the port and then a ferry to Patmos. Flights to Kos operate from Sydney usually with 2 or 3 layovers. From New Zealand, it is best to fly first to Sydney and depart to Greece from there.

Also available are hydrofoils from the islands to Patmos (crossing durations vary from 1hr to 2hr30).

Three: by helicopter
Take a helicopter from Athens Airport or Mykonos to the helicopter pad on Patmos.

Four: by Yacht
Port in the harbor of Scala, the bay of Grikos or Patmos Marine.
